The Triangle Vegetarian Society (TVS) is pleased to announce its annual Thanksgiving feast and raffle will be held at Cafe Parizäde in Durham on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, from noon through 3 pm. Parizäde is one of the Triangle's finest restaurants with a gourmet flair for fresh ingredients with Mediterranean influences.
The all-inclusive price will be $18.50 for current TVS members, $22 for non-members, $9 for children ages 5-10, and free for children under 5. RESERVATIONS are strongly recommended as this event is our biggest of the year and has sold out in the past. You can make a reservation by calling or emailing Lauren in Cary at 919-363-8595 or email@example.com, or calling Colleen in Hillsborough at 919-643-1447.
The menu (subject to minor change) will be a Fall Antipasto Buffet Table featuring wheatberry salad with maple vinaigrette, barley salad with pears, fall lettuces with pumpkin seed- cider vinaigrette; roasted peppers, roasted root vegetables, braised mushrooms with thyme and cinnamon, quinoa with dried fruits, breads, crustinis and pita with walnut and red lentil hummuses, rapini and other lightly steamed greens with garlic bread crumbs, and marinated olives. Main courses then will be Moroccan Sweet Potato Tagine, Basil-Roasted Garlic Whipped Potatoes, Spanish Vegetable Pallea, Roasted Tofu with Apple-Walnut stuffing and caramelized onion gravy, and fresh raspberry-cranberry relish. Dessert will include fresh seasonal fruits, phyllo cookies, poached pears, and apple crisp. Beverages will be herbal tea, coffee, and apple cider. No honey, white sugar, or any animal ingredients will be used.
Cafe Parizäde is at 2200 W. Main in Durham. Take the Durham Expressway (NC 147) either north from I-40, or south from I-85/15-501, and exit at Swift Avenue. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right if coming from I-40, or left if coming from I-85/15-501. At the light just ahead, turn left onto Main Street. Go through one light at Ninth Street and in 100 yards or so, turn right into the Erwin Square complex. Cafe Parizäde's number is 919-286-9712, but please don't call the restaurant for reservations - call Colleen or Lauren.
We will have a generous raffle with prizes ranging from gift certificates from area business to cases of whole food products, fine chocolates, non-animal gardening fertilizers, and much more. People can arrive to eat anytime between noon and 3, and the raffle is likely to be around 2. After the meal, there will have a reception at a nearby home.
The Triangle Vegetarian Society is an active group with monthly potlucks and restaurant reviews, as well as many special events. Our web page is www.ivu.org/tvs. We encourage membership not just for vegetarians, but for all who have an interest in any aspect of vegetarianism.
