Cooking Vegan Meals With
School Children

On Monday, March 20, we once again worked with Ellen Nisbet's 6th, 7th, and 8th grade home economics classes at Guy Phillips Middle School in Chapel Hill. Each period, we gave a short talk about why vegetarianism is important, and had the children work in teams making vegan dishes. Donna Allison led students making Rice Dream and Soy Dream smoothies, Barbara Graham led teams making hummus with pita, Jack Traywick helped in making vegan burgers and "dogs", and Dilip's teams made Bill Sribney's practically no-fat oven potato chips. Most enjoyed the food, and some even came back later in the day asking for more!
