Feast and Raffle at
Café Parizäde and Spice Street

Thanksgiving was again a huge success! 807 people attended from over 43 cities in 8 states and the Virgin Islands. TVS President Dilip Barman was on National Public Radio's program "The State of Things" (at about the 23 minute mark) two days before the event. ABC had a piece on the news and the Durham Herald-Sun ran an article, "No Turkey in the Cornucopia".

Daytime Menu for Café Parizäde

• Lentil-brown/wild rice cakes with lemon tahini
• Cardamom pickled beets
• Baked collard chips
• Stewed apples and kale with caraway
• Raw vegetables
• Lightly steamed corn-off-the-cob with smoked poblanos & cumin, lime juice & salt
• Herbed butter beans
• Fall lettuces with truffle mustard dressing and capers
• Breads, crustinis, and pita with walnut and red lentil hummuses, baba ganouj, and raw pumpkin-sunflower pâté
• Marinated olives, spiced pecans, roasted chestnuts
• Lime-marinated seared jerk seitan with lemon sage, peppercorns and fig glaze
• Roasted garlic olive oil mashed potatoes with chives, mushroom gravy, apple-pecan stuffing, and fresh raspberry-cranberry relish
• Cherry-kissed and seared tempeh coated in a coconut milk curry
• Smoky maple-chipotle crushed sweet potato
• Roasted fall vegetables
• Roasted green beans with pesto alla Trapanese (almond and tomato pressed sauce)
• Stuffed silver dollar mushrooms with caramelized onion and quinoa mash
• Farfalle pasta with marinara sauce
• Raw shaved/herbed carpaccio of squash, fennel, and root vegetables
• Mixed mushroom-Napa Valley Cabbage with Greek olive oil, lemon, and garlic (raw dish)

• Creamy Carrot-Ginger Soup with pumpkin-olive croutons

• Flatbreads, Hummus, Olives
• Field green salad with cucumber, tomato, and balsamic vinaigrette
• Butternut squash bisque with cinnamon and maple
• Cous cous salad with dried fruit and citrus vinaigrette
• Warm orzo salad with artichokes, roasted red peppers, onions, and sage
• Three-bean salad with roasted shallot-Dijon vinaigrette
• Both raw and roasted versions of corn-off-the-cob with fresh thyme and lime
• Fruit platter
• Seared lime-marinated seitan with scallion and radish relish
• Citrus-fig glazed tempeh stir fry with saffron basmati rice
• Olive oil garlic whipped potatoes with mushroom and onion gravy
• Dried cranberry and walnut stuffing
• Cranberry sauce

Raffle

As in previous years, we had a generous raffle with prizes ranging from gift certificates from area businesses to cases of whole food products, fine chocolates, non-animal gardening fertilizers, and much more.
