Cafe Parizäde is one of the Triangle's finest restaurants with a gourmet flair for fresh ingredients with Mediterranean influences. The all-inclusive price will be $18.50 for current TVS members, $22 for non-members, $9 for children ages 5-10, and free for children under 5. RESERVATIONS are strongly recommended as this event is our biggest of the year and has sold out in the past. You can make a reservation by calling or emailing Lauren at 919-363-8595 or lab@korl.com. Details may change, but we're planning to start our meal with a Fall Antipasto Buffet Table. This will tentatively feature quinoa salad with olives, shallots, pine nuts, sundried tomatoes, and garlic in a base of the lovely crunchy grain quinoa; arugula and rosemary-carmelized pear salad; fall lettuces with pumpkin seed-cider dressing; warm spinach orzo with pesto; roasted red pepper salad; garlicky greens and garbanzo beans; citrus couscous with dried fruits; roasted exotic mushrooms with fennel and garlic; grilled asparagus; roasted fall vegetables; grilled corn with herbs; breads, crustinis, and pita with walnut and red lentil hummuses; marinated olives; and spiced pecans. Main courses we're planning include savory phyllo with roasted fall vegetables and fruit; French braised winter vegetables with a touch of fruit; and basil-roasted garlic whipped potatoes. Look for roasted tofu with apple- walnut stuffing, mushroom gravy, and fresh raspberry-cranberry relish, along with braised wheat gluten sauteed with yellow squash and sweet onions. Semolina penne pasta with fresh roasted tomato-pepper-basil sauce, baked lima beans, and country cornbread are also planned. In addition, we will have a sweet potato-leek-potato velouté (thickened soup) and a trio mixture of Basmati, brown, and deep-purple "Emperors' Forbidden Black" rices. For dessert, we're planning fresh seasonal fruits, phyllo cookies, pumpkin pie, rhubarb-berry crisp, and cherry crisp. There will be apple cider, herbal tea, and water. All the food will be strictly vegan with no animal, egg or dairy products. No honey or white sugar will be used. Cafe Parizäde is at 2200 W. Main in Durham. Take the Durham Expressway (NC 147) either north from I-40, or south from I-85/15-501, and exit at Swift Avenue. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right if coming from I-40, or left if coming from I-85/15-501. At the light just ahead, turn left onto Main Street. Go through one light at Ninth Street and in 100 yards or so, turn right into the Erwin Square complex. Cafe Parizäde's number is 919-286-9712, but please don't call the restaurant for reservations - call Lauren. We will have a generous raffle with prizes ranging from gift certificates from area businesses to cases of whole food products, fine chocolates, non-animal gardening fertilizers, and much more. People can arrive to eat anytime between 1:00 and 4:00, and the raffle is likely to be around 2:30 or 3:00. After the meal, there may be a reception at a nearby home.
