On a Saturday evening, fourteen of us dined at Taste of Thai in North Raleigh. Taste of Thai has extensive vegetarian and vegan selections, and the staff is helpful in discussing which other dishes can be made vegetarian. Most veg*n entrees are in the $8-$12 range.

We ordered a wide variety of dishes including spring rolls, fresh rolls, soups, noodle dishes, stir fries, and curries. The curries and the stir-fries were highly rated by the reviewers. The lowest rated dish was the Pad Thai, which was described as bland by one reviewer. If not for the lower Pad Thai ratings, the food rating would be a very high 4.5. Many of the entrees include a garden salad that comes with a delicious peanut dressing. The dishes can be ordered with varying degrees of hotness and most of the reviewers liked the level of hotness in their meals. Several of the reviewers did comment they would like to see Taste of Thai add brown rice as choice instead of just white rice. The attractive presentation of the dishes caused several reviewers to make note of it, and the portions were more than sufficient.

The restaurant also has a full bar, and a variety of beer and wines from which to choose.

The excellent variety of veg*n dishes was nearly matched by the level of service. Many reviewers commented on the "attentive waitstaff."

But both the excellent food variety and service were topped by the atmosphere - quiet, with soft music, comfortable seating, privacy, and a nice decor ("love the decor" as one reviewer said). Several reviewers suggested we should add a category of atmosphere so we could give Taste of Thai a high mark in that category.
