Please contact Dilip with any announcements that you may have!

We have a new TVS family, Renee Beauclair and Michael Young, who haven't even moved here yet, but will soon. They had a lovely (I saw his picture!) baby, Gabriel Beauclair Young on May 19, weighing in at 6#14oz and at 20".

Owen Jack Cook was born on May 21 at 6:44p to Beth Bone and Dan Cook. He was 7#7oz and 21" long ... and he's cute!

Best wishes to Anna Cassilly and Terry Otto, who were married on June 20 in Carrboro at a beautiful outdoor wedding. I was honored to be a guest and found this to be the most touching and beautiful wedding that I've ever been to with lovely poetry, participatory singing and Sufi dances, and wonderful vegetarian food.

Suzanne Havala recently joined TVS and in June moved to the Triangle from Charlotte. Many of you know of Suzanne (MS, RD, LDN, FADA), a licensed and registered dietitian and professional nutrition consultant. She was the primary author of the ADA's 1988 and 1993 position papers on vegetarian diets, has written numerous books and articles, is on the editorial advisory board of Vegetarian Times, is nutrition advisor for the Vegetarian Resource Group, has been on a number of TV shows including Good Morning America, and is quoted by sources such as the New York Times, Harper's Bazaar, and many others. We are very lucky and I will try to convince Suzanne to give a talk at some point after she gets settled!

Along with Chip Law and Suzanne, Joelle Hendrick is our third nutrition advisor. She also moved here in June, from Key West, Florida. She's very friendly and knowledgeable - come to her potluck on August 22nd. Thanks to all the TVSers who helped make her visit for apartment hunting a success - Manisha Shah, Shelli Fein, and Brian Donlon in particular.

On New Year's Day, we had the pleasure of welcoming to the area Brian Donlon, founder of the Pensacola (FL) Vegetarian Society. He said that one of the major factors for his moving here was the active group we have in TVS. Thanks to Kevin Brice & Theresa Allio and Serenity & Keith Dixon for hosting his visit.

We bid a sad farewell to Serenity & Keith Dixon. Serenity did a thorough and very important job as our advertising coordinator, but in May she and Keith relocated to South Carolina. We'll miss them!

Welcome to the many new TVS members who have joined recently! I hate to slight anybody by omission, but do want to mention some of the most active new members - Suzy Carlson & Bart Wendel, Manisha Shah, Ralph Scallion, and Whit Gurley who dove right in as the newsletter designer!
