Regulator Cafe Hosts Annual TVS Thanksgiving Again

I am excited to announce that the Regulator Cafe in Hillsborough (919-732-5600) is once again hosting Thanksgiving dinner for TVS. The Regulator has a strong reputation of making excellent food with many vegetarian options in a comfortable atmosphere. For our buffet dinner, they will exclusively feature a pure vegan selection.

The menu may change, but right now looks something like Tofu Turkey with miso and yeast gravies, stuffed and baked in acorn squash and served with cranberry sauce and whipped potatoes. We'll have carrots and sweet potatoes, carmelized with maple syrup. There will be a main course tempeh dish, one of their specialties. All vegetables, including in their garden salad and waldorf salad with mountain apples, are organic. Drinks like juice, apple cider, coffee, and herbal tea, will be included, as will dessert such as "perfect" pumpkin pie with a granola crust and mountain apple crisp. They've catered and served very humble as well as very posh vegan festivities, folks, and they can cook!

The all-you-can-eat-and-drink buffet price will be $15 per adult, $7 for children 5-10, and free under 5. The restaurant will be open just for our event from noon till 3 P.M. on Thanksgiving Day (November 28th). Last year (and year before at Govinda's) was so crowded and the Regulator has a seating limitation of 100, so this year we will be taking two seatings, at noon and 1:30. Reservations are very important as this event has sold out the last two years; please contact Audrey Nickel (email erbivrus@nando.net) or Lauren Bednarcyk to make your reservation or for more information. This has been TVS' biggest event of the year - come with your family and friends, and enjoy!

Directions: The Regulator is at 107 James Freeland Memorial Drive. From the Triangle, take route 85 South to the second Hillsborough exit (the first will be Chapel Hill/Hillsborough, and the second, which you should take, will be marked just Hillsborough). At the end of the exit go Right and just after a stop light ahead turn Left into the Regulator. It is a bright yellow "house" next to Kentucky Fried Chicken and across from Walmart.
